How to compare opals
Start an opal comparison with the type: black, white, fire or boulder. Review body colour, play-of-colour, pattern and thickness. Establish whether the offer is a solid stone or assembled material and what care it needs; one front-facing photograph is insufficient.
Start with a preferred colour, carat range, millimetre measurements and stone budget. Open individual offers and compare matching specifications; total price and price per carat answer different questions.

For an existing setting, specify length, width and depth as well as carat weight. Review photographs and video where available. When a laboratory report is supplied, match its number, stone identity and treatment disclosures to the offer. A missing treatment field does not automatically mean untreated.
Availability changes. Before ordering, confirm the individual stone, final price, delivery and applicable terms. If the filter has no results, broaden the size range or send a precise sourcing brief.
Choose a search direction
For a jewellery project or professional shortlist, provide the preferred stone, colour, measurements, budget and deadline. This makes it possible to compare suitable offers against the same brief.
